DIY Christmas #1 Teacup candles

This Christmas I've decided to start a series on idea of making your own gifts as I feel to put your heart and soul intoa gift gives a lovely personal touch.

Teacup candles are delicate and so so pretty so I thought I'd make one for my sister who loves all things vintage.

After looking through websites I found out how simple it is. You can buy wicks and wax from your local art store or used candles.  Colouring the wax, adding scents or dried flowers is a lovely extra.

I picked up this beautiful Victorian teacup and saucer from the Barras Market in Glasgow for 7.50, which I thought was very reasonable.  You can find old cups at markets or even charity shops

I haven't made the candle yet but wanted to see what it would look like with a simple tea light and the effect is gorgeous.

To make the candles here is the link

I can't wait to make it, although it will be hard to give it away.

All that glitters is rose gold

I love gold but sometimes it can look cheap and lacks a certain class and elegance.  For a while I've been lusting after rose gold, it was the warmth that gold does not.    Asos has some beautiful rose gold jewellery and of course the Michael Kors watch is to die for, but Fossil was an equally beautiful dupe.  As well and accessories there are gorgeous nail polishes by Deborah Lippman and Essie.

Sadly I don't have the money to spend right now but I've been dropping less than subtle hints to loved ones just in time for Christmas

Tis the party season

I love to dress up, sequins, feathers, glittery door knocker earrings, tacky neclaces, embroidery, embellishment, lace and velvet.  The more over the top, the better!

Topshop are the masters of party outfits, here are a few of my picks for the festive season.

Red hair appreciation

Auburn, strawberry blonde, titian and of course the word that makes my blood run cold, ginger.  Red hair doesn't go unnoticed, which leads to some rather unwarranted abuse.  For year I was ashamed of my own red locks, going as far as dying it the blackest black imaginable.

But as I got older I realised just how lucky I was to have such an usual shade of hair and i'm proud as it makes me different.

So many celebs have such gorgeous hair, people such as Julianne Moore, Nicola Roberts of Girls Aloud fame and Christina hendricks have jumped on the auburn bandwagon.  Nicola Roberts in particular has embraced her natural beauty having spent years trying to adhere to the tanned, brunette stereotype of beauty.

So lets say together "I am auburn and I am proud!"

If you want to recreate the red look yourself I recommend this absolutely gorgeous colour

Interior ideas: Timorous Beastie

Anyone who loves quirky wallpapers, fabric and cushions influenced by nature, humour, decendant colour and Scottish flair should have a wee look at the rather wonderful Timorous Beasties.  Founded by 2 Glasgow School of Art graduates it really is gorgeous stuff but be warned it is rather on the pricey side!  Here are my favourite picks

The fabric and wallpaper

The cushions
The Glasgow cushion, note the ned having a piss! :D

The website have a great feature called The Room.  Basically you can design a room using Timorous Beastie products.  Really useful for design inspiration.  I decided to add a wee go myself and got rather addicted.

Here are my attempts at style

The accent room

The calm room

The cute room

The Fifty Shades of Grey room (never read the book btw)

The dramatic room

The girly room

The nature room

The retro room
